Jackie(Susan Sarandon) and Luke Harrison(Ed Harris) are divorced and have two children, Anna and Ben.
Luke proposes to marry his girlfriend Isabel(Julia Roberts) and she becomes the Stepmom.
Jackie is jealous of sharing the children with Isabel but when her cancer becomes terminal ,she decides to come to terms with her childrens’ stepmom.
